How to Make a Referral
Contact Our Intake Team
Professionals, parents, or guardians can call to discuss the patient’s needs and confirm program availability.
Scheduling an Assessment:
Every patient seeking admission will receive a complimentary assessment to determine the appropriate level of care. We will coordinate a time for the patient and their parent or guardian to complete an in-person assessment at the Carrus Care location they plan to attend. It is preferred to do this assessment in-person, however arrangements for a telephone assessment may be made if this is not possible.
Follow-Up:
With appropriate releases on file, you can monitor patient progress and collaborate with Carrus Behavioral for ongoing treatment recommendations.

Admissions Process
Initial Contact:
Families, providers, or schools can reach out to our admissions department by phone or online referral. Our team is available 24/7 to answer questions and provide guidance.
Assessment & Screening:
A licensed clinician will conduct a confidential assessment—either over the phone or in person—to better understand your child’s needs, symptoms, and medical history. This helps determine whether inpatient care is the best level of support.
Insurance Verification:
We work directly with your insurance provider to confirm benefits and discuss coverage.
Admission & Orientation:
During admission our team will guide you through the intake process and provide education for the hospital stay. Your child will be welcomed by the clinical staff, receive a health screening, and be introduced to the hospital.
Individualized Treatment Plan:
Within the first 24 hours, your child will receive a thorough psychiatric evaluation. From there, our multidisciplinary team will create a personalized treatment plan designed to meet your child’s emotional, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Family Involvement:
A family session will be scheduled at admission. You’ll receive regular updates and be supported every step of the way.
Discharge & Aftercare Planning:
Before your child leaves the hospital, our team will work with you to create a detailed discharge plan that includes follow-up care, outpatient services, school support, and community resources to ensure a smooth transition home.
